Sharing the Shot is an idea I have executed once before.
Once.
As I prepare myself for not only the opportunity to work with high school Seniors taking their portraits, but also mentoring an 8th grade student, I have been quick to remember who I was just years ago. The stereotypes, expectations, stress over school and athletics, boys… You know, everything.
It all comes and goes so quickly.
The first time I took Senior Portraits for people, I remember how nervous I was.
I went from being the girl with a camera on the sidelines of every home football game- casually super excited about each play and the 500 plus photographs from one night- to being a girl who not only wanted to hide behind a lens, but who wanted to just do my job, and jet.
However, my insecurities have managed to relieve themselves over the years.
Today, I stand tall with my camera. I know how to utilize each great aspect of the manual settings, and capture moments that will last forever, that don't really need to be touched up. And, I like that.
Since I have set in the stone the plans for Sharing the Shot, and a selfie challenge for my 8th grader (hopefully), I have realized that organizing and constant contact is important when it comes to volunteering.
I just heard back from having my background check cleared… and it took what seems like forever for that. I played telephone tag with one lady, and annoying email tag with another… All to come to find out that it took awhile due to my annoying name misunderstanding. Scottie, is not my first name, long story short.
Anyway, I am on the road to having not one, but TWO, great opportunities to share my experiences with current students, and hopefully impact their educational time, and personal life leaving a great smile and sunshine forever.
